Doctoral Student

Brian Butts is an assistant professor of Chemistry and faculty advisor of the Alpha Omicron Epsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Georgia Military College. He has the unique opportunity to teach not only regular students, but also those who are potentially entering one of the US service academies. Along with teaching, he volunteers in both activities for GMC's Corps of Cadets and events for the college as a whole.

Prior to relocating to Georgia, he spent most of his life in Orlando, Florida, being involved in educating both college and advanced high school students since 2005 in varying roles including a tutor, a prep school instructor, and an adjunct professor. He has experience in curriculum development, predominately writing content for MCAT prep books and contributing experiments to lab manuals. He most notably redesigned the curriculum for the Organic Chemistry Laboratory course while being a graduate student at the University of Central Florida.

Butts graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2007 and a Master of Science in Chemistry in 2012.
