Doctoral Student

Austin is a part-time doctoral student in the Mcbee Institute for Higher Education. He currently serves as an Academic Advisor in the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia, advising for Elementary Education majors and Social Studies Education majors. In previous roles at the University of Georgia, he served as the Education & Program Coordinator for the Office of Academic Honesty and as an Undergraduate Admissions Officer.

Austin earned his bachelor's degree in risk management & insurance from the University of Georgia. From there he worked for Liberty Mutual in Charlottes, NC and United Distributors in Savannah and Atlanta, GA. With support and encouragement from family and friends, Austin decided to follow his true passion of working with students and made the jump to become a middle school math teacher in Greensboro, NC.  After a few years of teaching, he discovered the ideal career path for him was in higher education, which led him back to the Univeristy of Georgia.
