Doctoral Student

James Hataway is the Assistant Director of Media Communications & Media Relations at the University of Georgia. He serves as a member of the media communications leadership team and oversees news distribution from the University of Georgia. He has worked at the University of Georgia for 11 years, and prior to joining the Division of Marketing and Communications, he worked as a science writer and editor in the university’s Office of Research.

Before joining the university, Hataway worked as a freelance health, medical and science journalist. He wrote about breaking scientific discoveries, emerging trends in health care and the implementation of policies that govern medical practice for a variety of newspapers, magazines and professional organizations. Originally from Kingsport, Tennessee, Hataway received his bachelor’s degree in history and philosophy from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree in health and medical journalism from the University of Georgia.
