Narke Norton

Narke Norton is the director of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. He had previously served as the assistant director for recruitment and diversity initiatives at the UGA Graduate School.

Narke earned an Associate of Arts in Political Science at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at UGA in Athens, Georgia. During his undergraduate career, Narke was involved in eight organizations at UGA; serving as Chief Justice for the Student Government Association, an active debate recruiter for the Demosthenian Literary Society, President of the National Political Science Honor Society UGA chapter, and was awarded an ALL-AMERICAN national award through the American Mock Trial Association. Narke also participated in local theatre projects, community service mentorship programs, served as a 2014 TEDxUGA Conference recipient and judged the 2015 TEDxUGA Student Idea Showcase.

Narke is a first generation student who earned a Master’s degree at the Institute of Higher Education with interests in diversity, policy, and student affairs. He works full-time in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences’ Office of Diversity Affairs unit as Program Coordinator. He also serves as the UGA Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS) Advisor, Cedar Shoals Junior MANRRS Advisor, and Co-chair of the National MANRRS Communications Committee. Some university-wide committees and associations Narke is a part of includes; the TEDxUGA Steering Committee, Georgia African American Male Experience (GAAME), Movimiento Latino, Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom Breakfast, President’s Fulfilling the Dream Award, UGA Staff Networking Pilot Program, and the Black Faculty and Staff Organization.
