Makeba Morgan Hill

Makeba Morgan Hill leads as the Founder and CEO of Dr. Makeba & Friends, LLC-Healing Hands. 

Previously, she served as Executive Director in the Office of the Executive Vice President for Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta. Additionally, she served as the deputy to the president and chief planner for the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in New York City. She also was assistant vice provost for planning and accreditation at Emory University in the Office of Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness. She was also a member of Emory’s SACS leadership team, lead the effort to complete the SACS Compliance Certification narrative for reaffirmation, and ensured that Emory met the requirements for regional accreditation.

Prior to joining Emory, Hill’s focus was healthcare strategic planning. She began her career as a strategic planning administrative resident at Johns Hopkins Medicine. She then served as planning associate in the Strategic Planning Office of Emory Healthcare, the clinical arm of Emory’s Woodruff Health Sciences Center. She was promoted to senior planning associate, then manager within four years. She took on the challenge to develop, coordinate, and facilitate Emory University’s first comprehensive strategic planning process, in partnership with others in 2004.The 18-month planning process resulted in complete strategic plans for fourteen academic and administrative units, a university-wide plan, and a ten-year implementation plan.  In December 2007, Hill was selected as the first director of the plan.   

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Management from Florida A&M University, a Master of Health Services Administration degree with a concentration in strategic planning and marketing from The George Washington University, and her EdD in higher education at the Institute of Higher Education.
