Julia Butler-Mayes

Julia Butler-Mayes serves as the director of Academic Advising Services in the Office of Instruction at the University of Georgia. Her research interests include psychosocial student development, academic advising, student engagement, student success and retention, transfer students, and the first-year experience.

Julia earned a Bachelor of Arts in cognitive science from the University of Georgia in 2007 and a Master of Education in higher education administration with a concentration in student affairs from Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College in 2009. Previously, she has served as an academic advisor at the University of Georgia’s College of Education and at George Washington University’s School of Public Health and Health Services in Washington, D.C.
